About
The Call Room started as simple observations in the modest notebook of Adam Carr as he sold tickets for The Geffen Playhouse as a theater telemarketer. In early 2014 he took his work diary and wrote a 24 pg pilot episode and produced it with friends Nic Shafer (Producer) and Craig Tovey (Director). That pilot served as proof of concept for a successful, fully funded Kickstarter campaign that same Fall. The boys raised $26k from friends, family and other backers and immediately went into pre-production!
They assembled a team of 7 talented writers and met every Monday night for 3 months in the Geffen's Rehearsal room, writing what would become Season One of The Call Room. Seven episodes were shot in an office in Calabasas and Brennen's Pub in Marina Del Rey, Ca. They recruited Geffen patron, editor Kevin Ross (Speed, The Truman Show, Californication) to cut the episodes together during the better part of 2015.
In Spring 2016, with the episodes mastered, the boys hosted a VIP screening on the Sony Pictures lot in Culver City, CA. The 99 seat theater spilled over with over 175+ friends, family and industry viewers. People sat in the aisles, stood against the walls, and spilled out into the lobby for all 108 min of Season One!
The show has a special personality and the creative team (Adam, Craig & Nic) strove at every point to make the series that they would be proud of (avoiding the pitfalls of trying to please entertainment industry or a broad audience) confident that the show will find its fans! From the unique black and white scene transitions to the mandolin scoring and soundtrack to the "Last Times" that exist outside reality, this show is one of a kind. It draws from the team's love for shows like It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Office, Arrested Development and Seinfeld.
Now The Call Room - Season One is launching on Facebook, YouTube and Vidme to anxious fans! And even as the series launches... Adam and the team are cooking up even wilder stories for Season Two!
